Chain guard

Our current drive system does not have guard on it. Fingers can not access the moving parts as they are behind the rear wheel on one side and behind a fixed wheel arch panel on the other. Will this pass scrutineering to race this year?

Comments

  • Should be no problem-the rules indicate that the chain should be guarded when racing and pushing around. We have bodywork that stops fingers etc. reaching the chain during the whole race and this passed fine.
  • The rules actually say "the drive train should be guarded to prevent fingers, hair and clothing becoming trapped at any time". We received an advisory from one of the senior scrutineers as our chain was deemed unsafe when the bodywork was off e.g. during battery change. If in doubt, I'd e mail a pic to GP
